Bird Mental Stimulation & Toy Rotation

Did you know? Birds can become bored with the same toys within just a few days, and mental understimulation can lead to destructive behaviours like feather plucking, excessive screaming, and aggression.

Your feathered friend's brain is constantly seeking novelty and challenge. In the wild, birds forage, problem-solve, and explore new environments daily. Captive birds need that same mental workout. Rotating toys every week or two keeps things fresh and engaging, whilst also extending the lifespan of each toy by reducing wear and preventing habituation.

The best approach? Divide your bird's toys into groups and swap them on a schedule. Include a mix of foraging toys, chew toys, and interactive puzzles. Pay attention to which ones spark genuine interest—every bird has preferences. A stimulated bird is a happier, healthier bird with fewer behavioural issues.
