Cat Indoor Enrichment Activities
MYTH: Cats left indoors get bored and don't need much stimulation.
FACT: Indoor cats require regular enrichment activities to maintain physical fitness, mental sharpness, and emotional wellbeing. Unlike outdoor cats who naturally patrol territory and hunt, indoor cats depend entirely on their environment for stimulation. Without it, they're prone to obesity, destructive behaviour, anxiety, and litter box issues.
The good news? Enrichment doesn't require expensive gadgets. Rotate toys weekly to maintain novelty, create vertical spaces with cat trees and wall shelves, set up window perches for bird-watching, and dedicate 10–15 minutes daily to interactive play with wand toys or laser pointers. Puzzle feeders transform mealtimes into mental challenges, whilst cardboard boxes, paper bags, and even crumpled paper provide hours of entertainment. The key is variety and consistency—a stimulated indoor cat is a happier, healthier companion.
